Problems Poop Training?

Many parents are allowing their potty trainers to take a clean pull-up from the box and put it on just to poop in it instead of the toilet. Potty trainers are holding their poop for days and parents are giving in by handing the child the pull up because everyone is so miserable over this new potty epidemic. How long should the parent allow the child to hold their bowel movement before handing over the pull-up?
