There are several ways to wear a baby. The position you choose to place you baby in using baby slings is up to both you and your child. You might find one position more comfortable than another or learn that you child prefers one position over another. In addition, a position can facilitate a desired action. Nursing calls for one position, napping another and burping still another hold can be affected. For newborns there are 4 basic positions that can be adopted using baby slings or the rebozo: 1)Lying down in front of you Baby slings can be used to set your newborn in a semi-reclining position. You can choose the Cradle Carry that puts the baby’s head closest to your carrying shoulder. This is a great position for the napping infant. Or, if it is feeding time, you can try the Nursing Hold with the newborn positioned in the opposite direction with his head away from your carrying shoulder to facilitate feeding. In addition baby slings will shelter the nursing child providing some privacy. 2)Newborn Snuggle Hold Baby slings are used in this position to set the baby facing you. In this position the child has the knees up or the feet tucked. The sling keeps the child’s back and head well supported and helps prevent slouching. It is a good position for bonding between parent and newborn. 3)Burp Position In this style of hold 2 baby slings are used to carry the baby up on the shoulder. Gentle pressure is put on the stomach and helps to prevent acid from escaping back up the baby’s esophagus. To affect this position using baby slings they should be worn on opposite shoulders with the rings on your hip. You want to be sure both slings are tight. 4)The Reclining Back Carry Women of many cultures will wear a baby on their back. This enables the mother to work by leaving the frontal area and hands free. If needed, as in nursing time, the baby can be swung around to face the mother. This method of carry is not recommended for baby slings. Instead use the rebozo. With these four positions to choose from the first three work very will with the typical baby slings. The burp position is probably a good hold to adopt after baby is fed. It is a natural way to promote burping. The lying down hold is best for nap time or nursing as the baby sling will shelter the nursing infant. The snuggle hold is great for bonding time with the newborn as it promotes tummy to tummy contact between the baby wearer and the baby. This is a great bonding position for fathers to try out. The back carry is very rare in the modern world as it is used primarily for working mothers. However if you choose to try this type of baby wearing opt for the rebozo instead of baby slings. Baby Bedding - Why Buy Organic?
A great deal of scrutiny and consideration is expended when you
are getting ready for a new arrival in your family. Without a
doubt, you are looking for the very best materials and
construction available so that your child has nothing but the
best. Baby beddingis just one of the items you will be choosing.
You will be looking for top quality items in baby bedding to
give your child the best sleep experience possible. Why not take
a few minutes to review the benefits of an organic bedding
rather than the traditional types. Organic products are
certified to be free of any chemicals that would be harmful or
irritation to your baby's tender skin.
Influence the marketplace
By insisting on organic products when you purchase any item, you
are helping to lend your support to the entire concept of
organically made products. By purchasing baby bedding made of
organic materials you are telling the producers that the
consumers of this country are in favor of the reduced
contaminants and irritants resulting from organically grown
products. When you purchase baby bedding that is free of
pesticides and contaminants, you are more likely to find more of
these products in the future, since the producers will be more
than happy to increase the availability of products that are
obviously selling.
Child Safety
Nothing is more important to your planning for parenthood than
ensuring the safety of your child. What many parents do not
realize though, is that sometimes the safety features build into
the baby bedding can actually have negative effects. For
example, baby bedding that has been treated with chemical fire
retardants is being studied by experts to determine the type of
effects that these chemicals may have on the baby. Traditional
bedding for the baby such as crib mattresses that contain
polyurethane foam may have negative results on the baby.
Air Circulation
There is some evidence that organic baby bedding such as crib
mattresses permit better circulation of air through the product.
This quality in turn allows your child to be able to breathe
more easily. There is less chance of allergic reactions such as
those caused by chemicals and parasites in the baby bedding.
With better air circulation in the products surrounding your
baby, there is more opportunity to regulate the body temperature
while sleeping. This can be critically important to an infant,
particularly if he or she is premature.
Quality
When you decide, for any of the above reasons, to purchase
organic products for your baby bedding, you should check labels
carefully to determine that the product is actually organic.
Check with the Organic Consumers Association to receive the
contact information for accredited organic merchants. Although
organic baby bedding is usually more expensive than more
traditional products, discriminating parents often consider the
cost provides additional quality. After all, your infant spends
almost 75% of his or her time sleeping. Why not make the time as
safe and healthy as possible by providing allergen and pollutant
free bedding?

Baby Slings and Carriers From Pure and Honest Kids
Babywearing is one of the oldest and most widely accepted parental practices in the world. Many highly acclaimed pediatricians have identified that babywearing is a good practice for little ones and provides benefits that unslinged babies do not receive. For instance, a team off pediatricians in 1986 from Montreal concluded that babies who are carried in slings cry at least 40 percent less than those babies who are unslinged. To most moms, that’s reason enough to purchase a baby sling! The study also showed that babywearing helped reduce colic in infants as well. Research also shows that babies worn in slings show more alertness, both visual and auditory, and absorb information much quicker. Because your baby is close to you when worn in a sling, he or she is not scared by loud noises, thus allowing them to absorb more sights and sounds around them. Babywearing also helps promote speech development, as babies are exposed to more conversations and sounds when held closely to their parents. Another reason to consider babywearing is that your sweet little baby spent the first nine months of his or her life in your womb, and a baby sling closely mimics the feeling of being inside mom’s tummy. Your baby will feel safe and secure in your baby carrier, and it will promote a bond between parent and baby. Lastly, using a baby sling or carrier can simply make life easier for you and your baby. It is a convenient way to breastfeed while caring for an older child, working or getting chores done around the house. It also is a great way to snuggle babies that liked to be held frequently, but it frees your hands to complete other tasks. Choosing the Right Sling or Carrier: At Pure and Honest Kids, we offer two wonderful slings and carriers for our customers. Polkadot Papoose The Polkadot Papoose is truly a baby sling for a modern mom. It is equally stylish and practical. It was designed by a freelance babywear designer with a vision for a product that would capture the hearts of sensible-yet-fashionable moms everywhere. With a Polkadot Papoose, you take your measurements to be sure of a perfect fit. The folks at Polkadot Papoose know the importance of a correct fitting sling, and they want to make sure they get it right. To determine the correct size, measure from your shoulder to the opposite hipbone with a soft tape measure. Here’s a helpful tip- your sling measurement will usually correspond to your t-shirt size. Then simply order your size accordingly. The Polkadot Papoose is 100 percent cotton, reversible and hand crafted. It comes with a binkie pocket, so you’ll always be sure to have that all important binkie readily available! The Polkadot Papoose offers a wide variety of designer fabrics to suit almost any taste. At Pure and Honest Kids, we offer the following patterns: Elisa, Melanie, Sayuri, and Scarlett. Another great feature about the Polkadot Papoose slings? A portion of every sale is donated to Project Rescue, a charity which fights human trafficking and child exploitation in urban centers around the world. The Polkadot Papoose is available at Pure and Honest Kids for $64.00. PortaMee Baby Carrier Another great carrier offered at Pure and Honest Kids is the PortaMee Carrier. Chic and easy to use, this awesome baby carrier is essential for active parents and busy caregivers. PortaMee is the exclusive baby carrier with ergonomic lumbar support to reduce back fatigue and discomfort. The side carrier allows caregivers the ability to maintain eye contact with your child, which will increase bonding. Leave your diaper bag at home when carrying your baby in a PortaMee Carrier and be truly hands free! The carrier not only looks stylish, but it is very comfortable to wear and is well constructed. Also important to note, if you purchase a PortaMee Infant Headrest, also available at Pure and Honest Kids, babies as small as eight pounds (six weeks or older) can be carried in the PortaMee Carrier. Choosing Crib Bedding For Your Baby?
If you’re expecting a new arrival in your family, you already know there’s plenty to do in preparation. One of the most important is getting the nursery ready so your newborn will have a cozy, safe, and pleasant place to sleep once he or she returns from the hospital. That means you’ll need to go shopping for crib bedding. Below are some tips that can help you choose the right crib bedding for you new bundle of you. Setting a Budget As you may have already experienced, getting ready for that baby isn’t going to be cheap. That’s one of the reasons baby showers were invented. That means you need to decide in advance how much you can afford to spend and stick to that budget. Otherwise you may end up deep in debt or without all of the necessities your little one is going to need. Crib bedding will be one of the bigger costs on your budget but it can also be one of the more flexible ones. Generally, a quality crib bedding set could cost from around $400 up to more than $800. However, if you don’t want to purchase an entire set at once because of budget limitations you could choose to buy the pieces one at a time or to leave out some of the less important crib bedding accessories. Match the Décor If you’ve already started decorating the rest of the nursery, then the crib bedding you choose will need to match what is already there quite nicely. After all, you do want to create a visually appealing space for your baby. Sure, he or she may not appreciate it now but that crib bedding will probably be used at least until your baby turns three. That means he or she will definitely have some time to appreciate all of your hard work. Another idea is to pick the crib bedding before you do any type of decorations. That way you can match the rest of the décor to the crib bedding instead of vice versa. Gender Appropriate While any color crib bedding is appropriate for any gender of baby, most people still adhere to those classic color stereotypes. That means if you are having a little girl you probably won’t be going for blue crib bedding. What do you do if you don’t know or have chosen not to know the gender of your baby before birth? One answer is to choose so-called gender neutral colors for the crib bedding, such as green or yellow. These are both very tranquil colors to consider and look beautiful in any nursery. Choosing a print or pattern that incorporates multiple colors is also a good idea. Choosing a Theme Some parents decide to decorate their nurseries in a theme. For example, you could choose a jungle look and even paint a jungle mural on one of the walls. In that case, you might want crib bedding, such as the Doodlefish Safari set from Pure & Honest Kids, that matches your theme. Organic Baby Products - Saving Our Planet
Organic baby products have the advantage of contributing to the
comfort and health of your baby which makes them the preferred
choice by discriminating parents. In addition to the individual
benefit to each baby who is not exposed to harmful ingredients
in traditional baby products, the use of organic baby products
is helpful to the health of our planet. Each year thousands of
tons of waste products are dumped in landfills and into the
streams and rivers of this country. Unfortunately, the
manufacture of many traditional products includes the release of
carcinogens into the waterways. Tremendous improvements have
been made in recent years, but reducing the amount of these
substances even further is a positive move.
Social Responsibility
Now that you are the parent of a new baby, you are more likely
to realize the importance of taking good care of the planet that
you will be handing on to your children and grandchildren. Using
organic baby products is just one way of improving the quality
of air and water on the planet. On an individual level, using
organic baby products is more likely to ensure that your baby
doesn't suffer the effects of unpleasant ingredients being
placed on tender skin as you use lotions, creams and powders in
an effort to protect the skin.
Water and Air
It is hard to believe that purchasing organic baby products is a
way to help take care of the planet Earth, but it is true. As
you reduce your use of products that contain irritants and
allergens and commit to eliminating the use of products with
dangerous chemicals involved in either the production or the
manufacturing of the item, you will reduce the number of
challenges to the air and water of this planet. There will no
longer be chemicals released into the air and water. Refuse to
purchase detergents, for example that contain hidden
carcinogens. If organic baby products are safe for infants,
shouldn't we all be using organic products?
Sustainable Products
Organic baby products are a great choice in another way.
Because the materials that are used to produce the items are
made of naturally occurring substances, such as cotton, silk and
wool, there will always be more of the product, so long as
farmer and agriculturalists continue to do their chosen work.
The materials going into the making of organic baby products are
grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers so there is
nothing harmful going into the soil or air.
Public Eye
The concept of using organic baby products as opposed to
standard products is increasingly in the public eye nowadays.
When you take a sensible concept such as the organic marketplace
and provide it with good word of mouth approval and availability
of the product through a world wide internet, the concept will
continue to grow in popularity and usage. Online marketing is
the best venue for the small business owner and the business
start up entrepreneur. It is a situation where the more sales
there are, the more products you are likely to find in the
marketplace.
